Adding a Listing or Event

If you want to add your business, or you want to add an event/special offer, then please use our website at GOVICFALLS.COM. You can’t edit or add listings in the mobile app.

Once you are on the website, if you haven’t already then click the “Register” button at the top right of the page. If you have already registered then you can click the “Login” button at the top right of the page.

(If you can, please register with a company email address. this helps us to verify that you are involved with the company in the listing you want to edit).

Once you are logged in, you may have to click on the “Become a Content Owner” button at the top if you haven’t already. This button provides you with extra tools on your dashboard for managing your listings, viewing the statistics, seeing how many users engage with your listing, and receiving your messages etc.

To add a new listing you can now click the “Add Listing” button at the top. You will be presented with two options: 1) to add a “Listing” and 2), to add an “Event”. A “listing” is your business that will remain in the directory for as long as you wish. So hotels, lodges, activities, shops, banks, services, and any other kind of business. An “Event” is a temporary listing that has a timeframe set to it. So it could be a party, special offer, conference, advert for your business, special occasions and things like that. Events will inform users of the app and website what is happening in town in the coming days, weeks and months. Alerts are sent out to all users of the app about up and coming events, so they are a useful marketing tool. All users are alerted when a new event is added also (their phone bleeps and a new message from the app will appear in their messages stream). If they click on the alert, it will open your event/special offer within the app.

Choose the type of listing you want to add, and then complete the Add Listing form that appears. Once you are happy with your listing you can preview it. If you like how it looks you can continue to publish it (or go back and edit it again). There will be a small delay between publishing your listing and it showing on the app and website while we review the listing to ensure it abides by the site rules (no adult content, no inciting violence, etc).

Adding a listing is free, and you can own multiple listings. Your dashboard will show you graphs and stats about each of your listings as time goes on.

Claiming an Existing Listings as Your Own.

If you want to claim ownership of a listing that is already on the site/app, then please use our website at GOVICFALLS.COM. You can’t claim listings in the mobile app.

(If you can, please register with a company email address. this helps us to verify that you are involved with the company in the listing you want to edit).

Now that you are logged in, use the search features on the website to find the listing you want to claim. Open the listing. Inside the listing you will see a button “Claim this business”. If you click on that you will be asked to complete a short form. We will use the information in that form to verify that have the right to take over that listing. Once verified, you own the listing and have exclusive rights to edit it. The “Claim” button also disappears from your listing, and a “Verified” tag appears on top of your listing in any search results.

Why do we verify? We want to ensure that listings gets into the correct hands. If we allowed anyone to take over a listing without checking, your listing could get taken over by individuals wanting to utilise your listings to take bookings and earn commission off you. If you have used a work email address to register on the site (eg anyname@yourbusinessname.com), then verification is simple and quick.

What Happens Once I Own Listings?

Once you own your listings then users of the app and website will be able to look at your listing, click on the contact button, and message you directly through the app/site. Your phone will bleep if you have received a message from within the app/site.

You can also monitor how well your listing is doing in terms of statistics like the number of views per day, time spent on the listing, and how many people have marked it as favourite.

All listings will eventually start gaining reviews. As a listing owner, you can reply to any reviews and comments as the business owner, and so can manage how your listing gains in popularity.

Who is going to Be Using the App?

The aim of govicfalls is for the app to be on every phone that arrives in Livingstone. Not only are we marketing extensively within Zambia, but we are also pushing hard in several international markets. On top of that, by the time the tourist industry is back on its feet in Livingstone (hopefully next year 2022), our website will be ranking higher than most, if not all, other websites in Livingstone (including your own!). This will put us amongst the big OTA websites over time.

At the end of the day, we all want the same thing – more visitors to Livingstone. This app is here to provide a service to visitors as one-stop-shop to everything about this town. Want to know where to go tonight? Look at the map in the app and see what is nearby. Want to plan your trip here better? Use the app to see what is going on, and what may be going on when you are here. Need an ATM? Need a taxi? Want a pizza? Need a doctor? Car broken down? It will all be in the app. A digital travel guide for Livingstone.

Deleting a Listing

If you want a listing deleted from our system, please contact us with the name of the listing.
