Zamara is a non-profit organization set up to support children with down syndrome. It was founded in January 2021 by five Indian ladies who saw the need to help children in Zambia with down syndrome reach their full potential. Zamara’s establishment was inspired by a little Indian girl with down syndrome who despite her condition has thrived. They were amazed by the efficient learning aids and physical therapy equipment the American rehabilitation facility had to offer children and wanted to offer the same to the Zambian children. Zamara aims to help children and adults with down syndrome improve their abilities and bring out the best in them.Zamara works with volunteer teachers and members of the community to educate and empower children living with down syndrome and their guardians. Zamara has worked with a number of children with down syndrome and these children are taught how to read and write.
